This was Tobias first solo show in Spain. The jewellery came from the “Traces of Function” series made in 2012.

“Coming from an interest in what happens at the point where a mere object becomes a tool, this work is an exploration of toolness and functionality in objects. I am looking at what happens when the practical function of a tool is diffused or obstructed. Are the activity-invoking qualities still present? Could this transformation lead to that other values that are otherwise hidden or unthought of, gets revealed?

Making jewellery out of objects showing traces of practical function creates an interesting conflict between pragmatism and adornment.”
